What To Know Before You Buy

How Heavy Will It Actually Feel?
Zari-heavy silks carry real weight, expect a noticeably fuller drape that holds its pleats well but asks more of you over a long day. Lighter weaves move easier and breathe better, which matters more than colour if you'll be wearing it for six hours straight at a wedding. If you're not used to draping silk, start with something on the lighter end and work up.
What You get As The Price Goes Up
Price mostly tracks two things: how much real zari is used, and how fine the weave is. A heavier zari border costs more silk and more weaving time. A finer weave takes longer on the loom for the same size saree.
How Do You Know It's Really Silk?
Silk Mark certification is a government-backed tag, not every silk saree carries one, and not every genuine silk saree needs to. It's worth checking for high-value pieces, especially handloom silk where the price difference between real and blended is largest. Ask to see it before you buy, not after.
Which Silk Suits Which Function?
A wedding isn't one event, it's five or six, and the saree that's right for the muhurtham isn't the one you want for the reception. Heavier silks with deep zari work suit the ceremony itself. Lighter weaves and brighter colours suit the sangeet or reception. Knowing which silk belongs to which function saves you from buying the wrong saree twice.
